Our Story

Picture of Our Story

It all began in the summer of 2021, when the universe decided that a film producer and a theater agent should cross paths on the interwebs through Hinge. Daniel was swiping through profiles when he came across Leah. Daniel couldn’t help but chuckle at the irony of a film producer dating an agent—it seemed so cliché! Despite his initial hesitation to date someone from the industry, he noticed she was on the theater side while he was in feature films. That distinction made him think, "Why not give it a shot?". Leah felt similarly cautious at first, but she decided to take a chance.

Our first date was at Finback Brewery, where we quickly realized how much we enjoyed each other's company. Leah was engaging, funny, and instantly clicked with Daniel. She was the most engaging person he'd met in a long time, and dating felt less like a chore and more like a joy. Leah was grateful to find someone who understood this crazy entertainment life and yet so at ease with not talking about it all the time. They each found it refreshing to have such easy and memorable conversations, especially after years of lackluster dates.

After those initial dates, we continued seeing each other regularly. Daniel’s feelings for Leah grew stronger with each passing day. Each date brought us closer together, and it became clear that we had found something special. However, life isn’t always straightforward, and a month or so into our blossoming relationship, Leah faced difficult circumstances due to her mother's declining health. Leah put her family first, and we parted ways.

Despite the breakup, we kept in touch, albeit mostly in a work-related context. Then, a year later, Daniel - then affectionately dubbed “Swirly Guy” to Leah’s friends - texted Leah while she had Covid…and we never stopped talking again after that. What was initially only supposed to be a fling on a visit to Leah turned into something more. Even though it had only been a year, something had changed in us.

So….we found ourselves in an unexpected long-distance relationship. We tried to avoid it - everyone always says long-distance goes so well, right?? - but we couldn’t help but want to see where things would lead. In November 2022, it became clear how in love we both were. An NYC trip for Daniel that was supposed to be 2 weeks stretched into 6 weeks. In this short window of time, there were many meals to introduce each other to our closest friends and, without hesitation and despite Leah’s insistence for “no new friends”, our world expanded and we were embraced by so many wonderful people.

During this time, Daniel got to play house and make home-cooked meals - an evolving love language for us - for Leah to come home to, and we quickly got a glimpse of what it could be like to share every day together. And while we didn’t then have plans to meet family, we knew things were turning serious and so we extended Thanksgiving with Daniel’s friend group to include a visit to DC to introduce Daniel to Leah’s family.

This trend continued as Daniel returned to Los Angeles and Leah visited him there and then in Arizona, where Leah met Daniel’s family and went to support him and his father as they ran a half marathon. Though we made long-distance work, soon after Daniel wrapped production on his first feature film in New Mexico, Leah and Daniel made the decision to move in together in Brooklyn.

In September 2023, after attending Nick and Kelsey's wedding, Daniel popped the big question to a sleepy, pre-coffee Leah. In a moment of uncaffeinated confusion, she looked at Daniel and exclaimed, “Really??”, trying to grasp if this was reality. Sure enough, it was. It was the easiest question Daniel had ever asked in his life and the easiest question Leah had ever answered.

And now, we get to spend our life building a new home, creating memories with our wonderful extended family and friends, and eating and making all the delicious foods. There is no better way to launch that journey than on October 10th, 2025, at Rule of Thirds, with you!

Thank you for being a part of our new life together.
